NOTE: Sid Lethbridge 2024 - US Patent 90040 was issued on May 11, 1869 to Alonzo E Young of Dorchester, MA and assigned to the Boston Silver Glass Co. The patent was for the method of manufacturing a mould for an oval or elliptical dish using an oval lathe. Patterns bearing the patent markings are assumed to have been made by Boston Silver although it is possible that they licenced the rights to use the patent to other glass makers.
