Thanks to Julia Maupin, she has shown it in a Butlers Bros. ad from 1906 so now we at least have a good date. It was called “Decorated Opal Toothpick or Match Holder.” I believe this very likely will be found in crystal someday. The metal lid screws onto the glass base."
