UNITED STATES GLASS CO. No. ...87 and 88 (OMN) toy candlestick by United States Glass Company (Pittsburgh-PA, Company Operated: 1891-1962) , c1913 Introduced
NOTE: Found in Butler Brother's Wholesale catalog, 1913. According to the Appendix - Toy Candlesticks appearing in Volume 2 of The Glass Candlestick Book by Felt & Stoer, the US Glass toy candlesticks are 2" tall and are often (mis)identified as much earlier B&S or NEGC products. These candlesticks were likely manufactured in a manner similar to stoppers in that there would be a number pressed at the same time in a single mould. The mould would form a central glass block with the candlesticks radiating out from the centre block. After annealing, they would be broken off leaving the rough mark on the base. The central block would go into the cullet pile and be remelted. Colors know are clear, canary, blue & green.
