Flowers;
POPPY (AKA) h north
• AKA: Lightning Flower
Northwood, H. Company (Wheeling-WV, Company Operated: 1902-1924), Introduced: c1908 Introduced
• NOTE: It appears in an October 1908 Butler Bros. catalogue cut. In the Harry Northwood: The Wheeling Years p 41, this assortment is discussed but none of the patterns are named other than "various poppy motifs". Pieces are often marked with Northwood's underlined N. Found in green glass, carnival glass and also with cold painted (Goofus) treatment.
James Measell - Additional note: the multi-color painted Mikado line pieces do not have the underlined N mark. The later "poppy" items usually do have the underlined N mark. This is a good example of a glassmaker getting additional mileage out of some moulds after the initial pattern introduction has waned.
